Paul Baldassini has been providing photo-illustration and compositing services to commercial art directors and graphic designers for more than 25 years. Tapping into his own experience as a graphic artist and designer, Paul combines techniques from both digital and traditional media. These include:
- source material from a digital camera;
- images scanned from transparencies, photographs, and/or original artwork;
- actual objects placed on the scanner bed;
- restored and retouched images, combined with textures from photos or created digitally.
Final images often include text, typography, or other symbols or glyphs that are used in a graphic, storytelling manner or purely as visual design elements.
Paul also combines traditional and digital images, artwork, and type to produce graphical narratives that he calls Geneagraphic Editions. Purely creative in nature, these provide a unique way to describe a specific person or event in a corporate history or form a graphic visual for an editorial commission.
