My Photo Painting technique takes restored, retouched, and/or original photographic images and magically transforms them into one-of-a-kind works of art.

Using digital media I create the realistic effects of artist's oil, pastel, chalk, or other natural media. I integrate textures such as watercolor paper; oil canvas or linen and other features such as background textures to dramatically enhance your distinctive work of art.

The completed Photo Painting can be a single portrait or a collage. It may contain found objects and personal memorabilia to tell a special story. Over the years, I have amassed a large archived database of interesting shapes, textures, and backgrounds that can be integrated into the finished portrait including original photographs of flowers, plants and other natural images, objects or textures.

A Photo Painting is an ideal way to create an exceptional visual narrative commemorating people, pets, or special events. Photo Paintings are often used to celebrate the birth of a child, a wedding or anniversary, a retirement or other major milestone. I often incorporate typography, monochrome or hand-tinted color effects, brush strokes, and painterly marks to provide visual interest and counterpoint to the photographic image. Photo Paintings are printed on specially prepared archival acid-free watercolor paper or canvas and are ready for framing. They will last a lifetime.

Photo Painting commissions start at $325 and take two to three weeks to complete. The fee includes an initial consultation, concept/design, original photography (on location and/or studio), scans and archiving, approval proofs and one finished 8" x 10" proof print. Additional or larger prints can be purchased upon completion or at a later date.

I look forward to helping you record your memories for generations to come.
